Full Abstract

The NHS has moved on from the days when the doctor knew best and chose what to tell, or not tell, a patient. Empowerment is the watchword today, and it is crucial for nurses to explore all means of providing patients with information, from face-to-face interactions, supported by written material, to helping them to seek answers via the world wide web.
